MISRA C – Recent developments and a road map to the future

First published in 1998, and now at their third edition, the MISRA C Guidelines have become the de facto standard for achieving high integrity software in critical systems.
This presentation will outline recent developments in the Guidelines – covering enhancements for Security plus improved guidance for Compliance – together with a road-map for future activity.
The talk will also discuss whether (at least at the software level) we should still be distinguishing between Safety and Security or whether more generally, High Integrity Software should be the goal.

With over 25 years of experience in developing high integrity software and systems, Andrew is a Chartered IT Professional, a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. A member of the MISRA C Working Group since 2007, Andrew became chairman in 2013 – additionally, he is involved with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO 29119 (Software Testing) and represents MISRA at ISO WG14 for the C Language.After over 20 years in the aerospace and defence industries, Andrew joined Frazer-Nash Research in 2012 where he acts as Functional Safety Manager and Embedded Software Manager for the development of hybrid/electric drivetrain technology.Sponsored by
