Gianpiero Colasante is the Lead Software Integration Manager at HS2 Ltd, where he is responsible for defining and overseeing the strategy, planning, and governance for software delivery and integration across one of Europe’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes. He has over twenty years’ experience delivering and assuring software intensive systems in mission critical environments in the rail, water, and oil and gas sectors. His expertise covers station management systems, SCADA, line wide management systems, and large scale system integration, with hands on experience on the client, supplier, and operator sides.
At HS2, Gianpiero acts as a focal point between contractors, lead integrators, assurance teams, and testing and commissioning functions, with a particular focus on managing software delivery and integration risk, readiness for release, and progressive assurance. He has played a key role in developing HS2’s Software Management Plan, establishing a structured and pragmatic framework to maintain software quality, reduce late integration risk, and promote progressive and evidence based integration.
Gianpiero previously held senior software and systems roles on major international rail programmes including Qatar Education System Tram, and Riyadh Metro Project Line 1 and 2.
Gianpiero holds an undergraduate degree in Systems Engineer from Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela, and a master’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Systems from the University of Huddersfield.
Gianpiero’s current professional focus includes software estimation, requirements management, and software risk management.
